A group that has had multiples hits in the charts for decades is coming to Cincinnati.
The Doobie Brothers came from the music scene in Northern California in the late 1960s. Their debut album, which was self-titled, dropped in 1971, but although it made them more than a local bar band, it failed to chart.
Their second effort, “Toulouse Street,” was a hit, reaching No. 21 on the Billboard 200 chart. Several of the songs on this album have since become associated with the band, including “Rockin’ Down the Highway” and “Listen to the Music.” For most of the 1980s it seemed like the band always had a hit on the charts, such as “China Grove,” “Black Water,” and “Takin’ It to the Streets.” They have won four Grammys and sold over 48 million records worldwide.
The Doobie Brothers have a friend meeting up with them in Cincinnati—Steve Winwood. Born in Birmingham, England, Winwood was in three memorable bands – The Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, and Blind Faith – before going solo. His album “Back in the High Life” went three-times Platinum and the lead single “Higher Love” won him two Grammys for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, as well as Record of the Year.
The Doobie Brothers and Steve Winwood will be at the Riverbend Music Center on August 18. When performances like this are planned, organizers often use poster printing to create advertising for them.
