Classic rock band to appear in Cincinnati

A band that has been rocking for decades is set to perform in Cincinnati in a few weeks.

Kansas is on its 50th Anniversary Tour—Another Fork in the Road. The veteran band will be playing music from throughout its 50-year career including fan favorites, smash hits, and deep cuts that the members perform in concert.

Kansas hails from the state that takes their name – Topeka to be exact – where the members first got together in 1974 as a garage band. They released their first album that year, thanks to the fact they were discovered by Wally Gold, who was working for Don Kirshner. Kirschner was a music producer and promoter who also discovered such artists as Carole King and Neil Diamond.

Among Kansas’ hits are the singles “Dust in the Wind” and “Carry On Wayward Son,” both of which sold more than one million Copies, making them certified Gold. The two singles spent more than 200 weeks on the Billboard charts in the 1970s and 1980s.

Eight of the band’s albums have also been certified Gold, and three – “Leftoverture,” “Point of Know Return,” and “Best of KANSAS” – have been certified sextuple-Platinum. “Two for the Show,” a live album, also went Platinum.

Kansas will be at the Taft Theatre on Friday, July 7. Events like this can be advertised successfully by organizers using poster printing.
