Cincinnati celebrates older residents

For the second year in a row, Cincinnati honored its older residents with its 50+ Cincy Celebration.

The event took place recently in Fountain Square, where over 500 people joined in the fun. People 50 years of age and older are the fastest-growing segment of Cincinnati's population, and the day offered entertainment, giveaways, and games celebrating their contributions.

Cincinnati City Council members presented awards to residents to recognize their contributions. The recipients were:

Tommie Lewis, who received an award from Councilmember Tamaya Dennard;
Tom Lohre, who received his award from Councilmember David Mann;
Romana Shaw, who was recognized by Councilmember Jeff Pastor;
Shirley Dunham, who received her award from Councilmember Chris Seelbach;
Michael Dantley, who was honored by Councilmember P.G. Sittenfeld; and
Umerline Stanton-Clark, who was honored by Councilmember Wendell Young.

The day included a Fun Zone run by the Cincinnati Recreation Commission featuring a variety of activities, and the fire department brought one of their trucks to the square for those who wanted to take photos with the engine. A collaborative art piece was created by the Cincinnati Art Museum, and there was music provided by WMKV, and dancing courtesy of the College Hill Jazzy Seniors.

In addition, over 25 exhibitors were present, providing information on living well in Cincinnati, in addition to giveaways that included at $250 gift card for groceries. Celebrations like this can be enhanced when organizers use banner printing to create decorations.
