Celebrated country-crossover artist comes to Cincinnati

An artist who started as a country singer but has branched out into pop and other genres is coming to Cincinnati.

LeAnn Rimes is a native of Mississippi who was raised in Texas and began performing when she was six years old. Once considered for the leading role of “Annie” on Broadway, Rimes could have been described as a seasoned pro by the time she was nine.

When she was eleven, her father, Wilbur Rimes, began recording her for the Nor Va Jak independent label. In 1991, the label released her debut album, “Everybody’s Sweetheart.” The album brought Rimes to the attention of record promoter and disc jockey Bill Mack. He began trying to help the artist break into the mainstream and achieved that when she recorded his composition “Blue,” which appeared on “All That,” her second studio album, released in 1994. In 1996, Rimes signed with Curb Records in Nashville.

She achieved worldwide success with her 1997 album “You Light Up My Life: Inspirational Songs.” The effort departed from previous material as it was more adult contemporary than country. The album sold more than four million Copies.

A concert review talks about Rimes’s “remarkable voice” and says:

“LeAnn Rimes was back in town, and we should all be happy about that.”

Rimes will appear at the Hard Rock Cincinnati Ballroom on Broadway Street, on July 8, at 8:00 pm. Using poster printing, organizers of events like this can create striking advertising to encourage attendance.
