Kenny Wayne Shepherd is a native of Shreveport Louisiana, where he grew up listening to his father’s rock, soul, and blues records. When he was seven, the youngster met Stevie Ray Vaughn, which inspired him to learn to pay guitar on his own. When Shepherd was 13, Brian Lee invited him to sit in with Lee onstage, which cemented Shepherd’s decision to become a professional musician.
Thanks in part to his father’s knowledge of the industry, Shepherd was signed by Giant Records, and released “Ledbetter Heights,” his debut album, in 1995. The record was a hit, selling more than half a million Copies in less than a year, and winning the artist new fans. Shepherd’s 1997 album release, “Trouble is . . .” earned him a Grammy nomination, and his next album, 1999’s “Live On,” was also successful. Both albums have been certified Platinum. He released a 25th anniversary edition of “Trouble is . . .” last year.
A review says:
“KWS guitar is something else he must surely be among the best around . . . The KWS Band are not just a straight blues band so next time he’s in town . . . see a guitar legend in the making.”
Shepherd will be at the Taft Theatre in Cincinnati on March 16. Organizers of events like this can use brochure printing to create programs that share biographical information about the artist.
