Tyler Christopher has been an Elvis fan since Christopher’s father, who loved Presley, introduced his son to the music. Christopher always knew he wanted to perform, so after winning a karaoke contest 10 years in a row, he went on to create his tribute to Elvis, which he has been doing for about 17 years.
Christopher notes there is a difference between a tribute and an impersonation. He says he is doing his personal tribute to Elvis, not trying to recreate him. He points out that one reason Elvis was so successful is that he appeared at the right time, when television was in its infancy and rock ‘n’ roll was just starting. Elvis jumped into the mix with his looks, charisma, and talent, and will never truly be duplicated.
Christopher dives into Elvis’s catalog from the beginning, through the films, and into the Las Vegas era. He is backed by The Roustabount Showband. A review says:
“Tyler Christopher is the real deal – with a voice that comes as close to Elvis’s as any I’ve heard.”
Tyler Christopher will be at the Town Hall Theatre in Centerville on May 24. Organizers of this type of concert will often work with poster printing to create advertising for the event.
