Third annual Oktoberfest party set for downtown Akron
Downtown Akron will alive with German lagers, pretzels, and oompah at the third annual Lock 3 Oktoberfest.
The popular German festival is in its third year in Akron. It began in 2017 as a one-day event and has now expanded to two days of music, food, and, of course, German lagers.
The festival is organized by local craft brewery Thirsty Dog Brewing Company. There is no admission fees, but people who go are required to pay for their beer and their food.
Oktoberfest has become an international festival held in hundreds of cities around the world. The original party started in Bavaria, Germany in 1810, and the city of Munich keeps the tradition alive every year with an Oktoberfest.
A German-brewery based in Cleveland called Hofbrauhaus will be supplying the authentic food flavors of the European nation for the two-day event.
The Chardon Polka Band will be providing the traditional German oompah live music for the festival, but with a modern twist. The Cleveland band has ditched the traditional German lederhosen in favor of ripped jeans, long hair, and tattoos.
Annual events like Oktoberfest that attract hundreds of people are great opportunities for sponsors and other businesses to use print shops for banner printing.
Lock 3 Oktoberfest runs Friday, October 5 from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm, and Saturday, October 6 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The Lock 3 event venue is located next to the Akron Civic Center on Main Street in downtown Akron, Ohio.
