Akron University regains No. 1 spot for polymer and plastic
Once again, the University of Akron’s School of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering has been ranked by EduRank.org as No. 1 in the world.
The rankings were based on the research performance in plastics engineering and polymer science programs of 1,015 schools, and this year the University of Akron reclaimed the top spot, which it had also held in 2022. In a news release from the university, Dean Craig Menzemer, of the College of Engineering and Polymer Science said:
Competition among institutions of higher learning is intense and brochure printing services are helpful in helping them “toot their own horn” about what makes them stand out.
Included in the top 10 universities for Polymer Science and Engineering behind the University of Akron and in no particular order were the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, MIT, University of Massachusetts-Amherst, Harvard University, the University of Manchester in England, Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg in Germany and Penn State University.
Akron’s School of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering sprang from Akron's Synthetic Rubber Program in 1939, and its faculty members are credited with having over 300 issued and pending patents. Some of these inventions have been commercialized worldwide in nanocomposites, flexible electronics, coatings and biomedical applications.
