What's Happening in Akron, OH…

Akron RubberDucks home to be renamed

After 28 years at Canal Park, the Akron RubberDucks will no longer be calling Canal Park home, but will not actually be going anywhere.

The answer to this apparent riddle is that Canal Park is being renamed 7 17 Credit Union Park at the end of the 2025 season. News of the name change was recently announced at a press conference attended by the team’s owner, its general manager, Akron Mayor Shammas Malik and Joun Demmler the CEO and president of 7 17 Credit Union.

Banks have many uses for printing services including custom apparel and lots of promotional products.

Canal Park got its name from its then proximity to the Ohio and Erie Canal. Upgrades were made to the 7,600-seat stadium following its purchase by Ken Babby, the current owner. Before the new name can be officially adopted it will be necessary for Major League Baseball as well as the Akron City Council to give their approval; however, their approval is considered highly likely.

Mayor Malik said of the Ohio-based financial institution:

"7 17 Credit Union has a strong history in Northeast Ohio and their expansion into Akron means new jobs, new investment, and more opportunities for our residents and small businesses."

The sponsorship dollars gleaned from the new partnership between 7 17 and the team will enable the club to sustain affordable prices for its fans.
