Akron Pumpkin Run celebrates fall with gourds and apple cider
An event that is quickly becoming a fall tradition in Akron is returning. The Pumpkin Run is once again taking to the streets of downtown Akron with hundreds of runners and even more pumpkins.
All participants get entry into a 5km (3.1 miles) or 10 km (6.2 mile) race, with free perks including a hoodie, apple cider, pumpkin, photos, a finisher medal, and a race bib with chip timing. After the race there is a celebration with food and beverage trucks.
Runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome. Those in better shape can choose the Tough Pumpkin option, where runners are given a pumpkin to carry with them for the duration of the race. Those who finish with the pumpkin in hand will get a special Tough Pumpkin medal.
Akron is one of 15 cities throughout the country participating in the run. It is almost sold out, and organizers are urging residents who want to participate to sign up online as soon as possible.
Race organizers are also looking for volunteers to help out at the event with parking, at water stations and with teardown. Volunteers get free future race registration and free swag.
Community events like these are opportunities for vendors and sponsors to advertise with printing services like flyer printing and poster printing.
