Akron gets ready for a season of outdoor concerts
Akron music lovers have opportunities coming up to enjoy their favorite art form, as the city is launching its outdoor concerts again.
Parks throughout the city are the locations of free public concerts. There are so many that it is possible for a person to attend a concert almost every night of the week.
In Akron proper, at Hardesty Park, located at 1615 West Market Street in the Wallhaven area, concerts began June 8th with Cold Blue Steele appearing on that date. The Howard Street Blues Band followed on June 15th, and upcoming shows include the Acid Cats on July 6th; Nostalgia Gold on August 10th; and family fun provided by Zobapago on June 29th.
A series will also be held at the Akron Art Museum, in the city’s downtown. Concerts at this venue began June 18th with Colin Dussault. Upcoming acts include the Sammy De Leon Latin Jazz Orchestra on July 2nd, and Ryan Humbert on August 6th.
The Akron Symphony Orchestra will be performing in the area on July 4th, as well as selected Sundays. Among their appearances are ones on August 26th at Firestone Park, and at Goodyear Heights Metro Park on August 16th. Their Fourth of July concert is at 8pm at Lock 3.
Details about the concerts can be found on the participating organizations' websites.
Event organizers could work with a banner printing company to create colorful streamers to announce each concert.
