Summer concerts return to local park
The Town of Wappingers Falls Parks and Recreation, in partnership with the Wappinger Town Board, will once again be holding Summer Concerts in the Park beginning in mid- July.
Two of the seven concerts (Hurley Mountain Highway on July 8 and Bosco and the Storm on July 29) have been cancelled, so the first group to perform in the bandshell will be Midnight Image playing classic rock, pop, Motown, and disco on July 15. They will be followed the next Thursday evening with Crystal Glenn, an award-winning soprano who will perform on July 22.
Cruise Control will begin the August lineup on August 5, playing everything from Pink Floyd to the Blues Brothers, and the Ramones to Joan Jett. On August 12, the Southern Dutchess Concert Band of woodwinds, percussion, and brass will present music including wind ensembles, light classical, marches, and popular standards.
Midnight Slim and Laurie Ann will close the season on August 19. This duo will entertain the audience with original songs, country, blues, and classic rock.
Guests are advised to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Many people at outdoor concerts like this will bring business cards with them and use these evenings as networking opportunities.
The free concerts will all begin at 7:00 pm at Schlathaus Park, located at All Angels Hill and Myers Corners Roads.
