St. Patrick's Parade comes to Dutchess County

Andrew O’Grady, this year's 29th Grand Marshal, will be leading the Dutchess County St. Patrick's Day Parade in early March.

O’Grady will be officially announced at the 2024 Annual Emerald Ball on Saturday, February 17th at the Elks Lodge #275, Overocker Road, Poughkeepsie. The event will feature day entertainment and dinner with entree choices of chicken, roast beef and vegetarian.

This year's St. Patrick's Day Parade will be dedicated to Dick Masterson. The parade line up will be at the Wappingers Falls Rural Cemetery. The Escort Division will be comprised of area's police cars, sheriff's color guards, Regional Police Pipes and Drums, and the Hudson Valley Police Emerald Society.

Other divisions will line up on North Street, Clinton, and McCafferty Place. The parade will have four divisions - Ulster, Munster, Leinster, and Connaught. Some esteemed marchers will be St. Patrick, the Easter Bunny, Little Miss New York, and a leprechaun.

In total, 11 floats, including those from Lees Auto Body, New Hamburg and Chelsea Yacht Clubs, and Aguado Landscaping partnering with Enchanted Forest Daycare will be competing for prizes.

Pictures of winning floats often go to nearby print shops to make duplicates to be displayed in town halls and other public buildings.

The parade will step off at 1:00 pm in the Village of Wappingers Falls, beginning at the intersection of Delavergne Avenue and West Main Streets and disperse in Mesier Park.

The Dutchess County St. Patrick's Day Parade will be Saturday, March 2nd.
