Locals head for Beacon Bonfire
Many Wappingers Falls music, art lovers, and health enthusiasts will be joining the fun at the Beacon Bonfire coming in early November.
The Beacon Bonfire Music + Art Festival will be a two-day flurry of music and art events at multiple venues, warmed by the nine or ten campfires along Main Street. Over 25 venues and galleries will be presenting more than 300 performers.
Music genres will include alternative jazz, instrumental, Americana, blues rock, indie folk, soul, indie pop, and zydeco. There will be American contemporary art, visual art, light installations, museum programs for kids, fine art sculpture, a pottery art camp, and a mind reader. Other entertainment will include an aerialist, singing choir, drum circle, and spoken word.
One-day passes are $39, two-day passes are $59, and Patron passes are $99. Single color-coded wristbands will be available for purchase at each venue.
The fun will begin with the Beacon Bonfireball 5k, which is a 10k race through the Hudson Highlands. The 90-to-180-minute race will take runners through fall foliage and rugged landscapes.
Amenities will include T-shirts sporting artist Donna Mikkelson’s graphic design, coffee at the beginning and end of the race, Zandy’s vegan cookies, prizes, and passes to the festival.
Registration is $45 and the race will be from 8:00 am to 11:00 am, beginning at the Mt. Beacon Trailhead, on Saturday, November 4.
