Local society presents cemetery tour

Wappingers Falls Halloween enthusiasts will get to enjoy the fall season with a spooky cemetery tour, as the Wappingers Historical Society will be holding its annual Stones & Bones Living History Tour in mid-October.

Dani Masterson, in partnership with the Wappingers Historical Society, has created a living history tour of the Wappingers Rural Cemetery. Costumed apparitions will include Dr. George B Andrews, Clinton Clapp, James Orr, Reginald W. Rives, and Clayton Emmett Sweet, as well as survivor of the Lusitania - Thirza Winter Bate.

The afternoon tours will be held at 2:30 pm and 3:15 pm, while the evening tours will take place at 6:00 pm, 6:45 pm, 7:30 pm, and 8:00 pm. The $25 tickets must be purchased online, groups are limited to 13 people, and guests must be over 12 to participate.

Evening tours will be led with lanterns, but participants may bring their own flashlights to help them over the uneven terrain.

Societies such as the Wappingers Historical Society that present events like this often take pictures of the cast every year, then take the photos to local print shops for duplicates for the actors, and for the organization’s archives.

Stones and Bones Living History Tours will take place Saturday, October 14 at the Wappingers Rural Cemetery, 174-208 W Main Street. A rain date, if needed, will be Sunday, October 15.
