Fiber artist exhibit comes to Wappingers Falls Library

The Wappingers Falls Library will display a gallery of a local fiber artist's work throughout December.

The artist in question is Jaya Srikrishnan, who first learned to knit when she was a child in India and has continued to work with fibers since. Now, in her adult life, she also spins and weaves her creations as well as knitting, and lives locally.

Much of the material she uses is recycled from hen sampling, thrift stores, and experimentation. Her inspiration comes from a variety of sources. She looks at the shapes, colors, and textures of nature, as well as works of both modern and ancient architecture.

The venues that have used her works are numerous. She has both created and designed creations for Interweave Books, Interweave Knits Magazine, Lorna Lace's yarns, and several other venues. Much of her time is also spent teaching at places such as local yarn shops, and Connecticut and Long Island retreats. Srikrishnan's work will be on display at 2642 East Main St, the location of the Grinnell Library. starting on Thursday, December 1, and ending on Friday, December 30. Art instructors such as Srikrishnan may benefit from using local brochure printing to distribute artistic crafting instructions to students.
