Country Players to perform in Wappingers Falls
Country Players Inc. will present various performances throughout February of the play "It's Only a Play". These shows will take place at the Falls Theater.
"It's Only a Play" is a comedy first written by American playwright Terrence McNally. Created out of a largely unsuccessful 1978 play entitled "Broadway, Broadway," It was first opened in 1982 at the off-off-Broadway Actors and Directors Theatre. The plot revolves around a Manhattan house party being thrown by a first-time Broadway theater to celebrate the opening of a play called "The Golden Egg." With her are the main playwright, the director, a lead actor, a critic, and several other friends. The group discusses it experiences with Broadway theater and talks about the various celebrities who are attending the party, while keenly awaiting the late-night reviews that should get printed in the newspapers.
"It's Only a Play" won two Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards and got nominated for both a Drama Desk Award and a Tony Award. It also won an honoree award at the Theater World Award Ceremony. There have been several revivals of this play. One of these was a Broadway production that earned over $3.9m.
