Students receive scholarships to pursue water-related studies
Three students from Rockland County have recently been awarded scholarships of $3,000 each by SUEZ - Water Technologies & Solutions and the New York Chapter of the National Association of Water Companies.
The scholarships are given to students who plan to pursue degrees related to the water industry.
Vice president of operations for SUEZ in New York, Chris Graziano, stressed the importance of supporting young people who are bright and hard-working to be leaders of the future in the water industry. Students will be able to pursue higher education in STEM-related fields through this program.
Matthew Wain was one of the recipients of the scholarship. He attends Nanuet High School and is a member of the Spanish and National Honor Societies. He plays soccer and has received All Section, All County, and All League honors. He plans to study engineering at Villanova in the fall.
The other students who received scholarships were Clarkstown South student Lindsey Aprahamian and Kerry Gettler of Pearl River High School. Aprahamian is a member of several honor societies. She will attend the University of Michigan to study environmental science. Gettler has received many academic honors and is a scholar-athlete who will be attending Cornell University.
