The Historical Society of Rockland County (HSRC) in New City is holding its 49th annual holiday exhibition, “Holidays on the Farm.”
Residents of nearby Nanuet who are interested in history and holiday-related events might be attracted by this exhibit.
Through most of the 1700s and 1800s in Rockland County, the winter season began with the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. This created a week where the regular routine of chores on the farm was made livelier by special festivities and foods. In this year’s exhibit, the rich agricultural heritage of the county is explored as it highlights the unique features of the holiday season.
The Office of the Rockland County Executive and the Department of Economic Development and Tourism are contributing to the support of this exhibition.
Admission to the exhibit is $5 while members of the HSRC may attend free of charge. Poster printing can be used throughout a community to inform residents of such informative and festive exhibits.
The HSRC is a museum and educational organization committed to developing lively conversations with diverse audiences about the rich and multifaceted historical legacy of the county.
The museum is open Wednesday through Friday and Sunday from noon to 4:00 pm, although it is currently closed for the holidays until January 3. The exhibit runs through Sunday, February 22.
