A Fulbright United States Scholar Program International Education Administrator Award for France has been awarded to Patricia Szobonya, who is a professor at SUNY Rockland Community College (RCC) in Suffern.
This award is for the upcoming academic year, and may be of interest to students at the college who live in nearby Nanuet and follow her research.
A Fullbright award recognizes leaders in higher education who are committed to strengthening international education. News of such prestigious awards is often made known throughout a college campus and neighboring communities with flyer printing.
Szobonya’s career has focused on global education and legal studies. She studied law at New York Law School and has spent most of her career in recent years at RCC. She teaches criminal justice and legal studies and has helped to expand global opportunities for faculty and students through the SUNY Collaborative Online International Learning Program and the Global Institute of RCC. She has worked to foster intercultural learning and global engagements with institutions in the Middle East, Latin America, Asia, and Africa.
Szobonya is also faculty advisor for the Model United Nations Club at RCC. The club recently participated in the National Model United Nations Conference for 2026 in New York City.
Szobonya said the experience with Fullbright will be an opportunity to continue the work she has been doing at RCC.
