Grocery store to move to new Nanuet location
Stop & Shop, a major supermarket chain, is planning to relocate a store from South Middletown Road to the former location of Fairway in the Shops at Nanuet.
A spokesperson for Stop & Shop, Maura O’Brien, said the new space is comparable in size to the current store, but it will have a new look and offer an expanded produce section, more grab-and-go options for easy meals on the run, and more organic and natural items. The store currently employs over 100 people, all of whom will be able to work in the new outlet in Nanuet and other nearby locations.
This move is another positive development for the shopping center, which recently welcomed a new tenant in Versona, a boutique for women, and is awaiting the grand openings of the Dry Bar hair salon and At Home, a retailer of home décor. Banner printing can be used to inform residents when new stores open.
George Hoehmann, Clarkstown Town Supervisor, expressed his delight that the owner of the Shops at Nanuet, Simon Properties, is still marketing the retail center not only in this area, but in surrounding regions too. He added that his town’s economic development office is working with retailers to fill the space to be left vacant by Stop & Shop, which expects to be up and running in its new location by the summer of next year.
