Volunteers for the Tyler Mackenzie Memorial Fund have announced that they will be hosting the second annual charity 5K Memorial Run and Walk in Baldwin, near to Merrick.
The event is held in honor of Tyler Mackenzie, who died of a rare form of kidney cancer called translocation renal cell carcinoma. Proceeds from the event are raised in memory of Tyler and will be distributed to a variety of kidney cancer charities and research institutes, with the majority of the money going to the Dana Faber Cancer Center in Boston.
Anyone interested can sign up to participate in the run or walk, with prizes, shirts, and other Promotional Products from local businesses going to those who participate. The first 200 people who sign up will receive a free shirt, and all who complete the event will get a finisher medal.
Event attendees, runners and volunteers are encouraged to wear orange in honor of Tyler. The event starts from Baldwin Harbor Park, located at 3219 Grand Avenue, in Baldwin. Registration is $35 and can be completed online. The event will go ahead come rain or shine, although individuals can also sign up to complete the run virtually if they wish to support without being able to attend on the day.
The event is on Saturday, March 23, starting at 10:00am and ending at around 1:00pm. However, event officials urge any runner or walker to arrive no later than 9:30am, as the Grand Avenue Entrance closes then.Get a Free Quote for Promotional Products
