Deep dive planned into classic TV in Merrick

A writer who has detailed the life and works of one of television’s pioneers will be in Merrick next week to discuss their projects.

Nicholas Parisi is the author of “Rod Serling: His Life, Work, and Imagination,” a discussion of the creator of the iconic series “The Twilight Zone.” A description of the book says it is:

“. . . part biography, part videography, and part critical analysis. It is a painstakingly researched look at all of Serling’s work―in and out of The Twilight Zone.”

Parisi is president of the charity organization the Rod Serling Memorial Foundation, which preserves and promotes the legacy of Rod Serling. Parisi was previously an editor and staff writer for Long Island’s “Good Times” magazine, and has made appearances on radio shows, podcasts, and television shows including CBS’s “Inside Edition.”

At the event, Parisi will screen “The Obsolete Man,” a highly rated Twilight Zone episode, and lead a discussion about its significance and the themes it examines. The deep dive into the material will provide new insights into the episode, which deals with the eventual failure of totalitarian states.

Parisi’s lecture is scheduled for next Tuesday, November 2, starting at 6:15 pm, in the Community Room of the Merrick Library. When they plan events like this, organizers can enhance them by using brochure printing to create supporting material.
