The Long Beach Race Series consists of eight different marathons held during the year. Now that the Thanksgiving and Christmas ones are over, a new winter-themed one is about to begin.
The next scheduled race will be the Long Beach 4-Mile Snowflake Race, which will take place early next month. Like the other races, it is a presentation of the Long Beach Department of Parks and Recreation.
This year, the race is being run in memory of Joseph F. Farrell. Entry fees are $25 until January 31 and $30 on the day of the race. Those who register will receive a free T-shirt while supplies last.
Competition is divided up into several age divisions including male/female 14 and under, male/female 15-19 ,and male/female 75 and over. Awards will be presented to the top finishers, which will include an overall winner regardless of category.
Race participants will gather at the Long Beach Catholic Regional School. The race will begin at Grand Boulevard and Boardwalk. Awards will later be presented in the school auditorium.
This race will likely attract runners from all around the area, including nearby Merrick. Local printing services companies are often asked to provide the application Forms and race numbers for such events.
