Military and veterans have reason to smile

Free dental care for active duty military, their immediate families and veterans will be available this week.

The service will provided by the Helping Hands Dental Foundation of Glen Cove and the Veterans Service Agency of Nassau County, located in East Meadow, a short distance from Merrick, as recently announced by Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano.

According to Mangano, providing free exams and dental care is one more way that the County can honor those who served in the Armed Forces and made sacrifices for the freedom of our country. He expressed his appreciation to the Helping Hands Foundation for its commitment and generosity in serving veterans.

The Helping Hands Foundation will be providing five volunteer dentists who will offer free teeth cleanings and dental examinations, and also screenings for oral cancer. Toothbrushes and toothpaste will also be offered by the organization.

At Veterans Stand Down Tuesday at the Freeport Armory tomorrow, November 24, Helping Hands Dental Foundation will also be offering these free services from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. This is the sixth year in a row that the Foundation has been involved in the event to assist veterans with dental care.

Helping Hands Dental and the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency might consider having Flyers printed for Mailing to the veterans in the County, reiterating the importance of good dental care and making them aware of this special event.
