The 27th annual Winter Model Train Show and Exhibition is about to get underway.
The first Trainville show of 2018 takes place in Freeport this month. The popular hobby supplier located near the Hicksville train station stages exhibits of a variety of model trains and cars along the east coast each year.
Model train hobbyists will appreciate the show taking place at the Freeport Recreation Center. On display will be a variety of model trains to view and operate. The Great South Bay Model Railroad Club is hosting the event, and a test track is available for anyone that wishes to try out a specific model.
The event is an opportunity for budding hobbyists to see what is available in new equipment and to meet others with similar interests. It is also an event that will provide plenty of information for any newsletter printing completed by hobby or train clubs.
The Great South Bay Model Railroad Club is a hobby club for plane, boat and train enthusiasts. They meet several times a month with an admission cost of $3 per meeting or a $25 fee for yearly dues. Anyone interested in learning more about the club can speak to one of the members at the exhibition for more information.
The event takes place tomorrow, January 8, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Freeport Recreation Center at 130 East Merrick Road. The family-friendly event has an admission price of $5 per person, with free admission for anyone age 11 or younger.
