Locals asked to help complete massive crossword puzzle

The Freeport Memorial Library has called upon local crossword fans to play their part in finishing a huge version of the puzzle this afternoon.

This event is part of the library's community commitment to put together high-quality programming to all members of the community, including Merrick and Freeport.

According to the event website, librarians Christopher Bisonette and Kevin Denson have found a large crossword. Attendees can come and fill out certain sections, words, or phrases.

The puzzle in question is a beginner’s crossword. That means there is no mandatory skill level, do individuals are welcome regardless of whether they pit their wits with crossword puzzles every day, or if they have never completed a single one in their life.

At the event, individuals will be given the chance to work together, with friends or family, or by themselves. However, like any other library event, this will present attendees with an opportunity to get to know other community members and make new friends, making the exchange of Business Cards a possibility.

The event will be held on today July 27. It will run from 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM, but may wrap up a little earlier if the puzzle is completed ahead of time. The event is free to attend, and no reservation is required.

The exact size, clues and specifics of the crossword will be revealed at the event.
