Habitat for Humanity of Long Island is gearing up for its annual 5K Run/Walk event. The event is meant to raise money for the organization, but also build awareness about the various services the non-profit offers.
Attendees can register up to three weeks in advance to get a personalized bib number, or register later to get whatever number they are assigned. Finish line photos will be provided for free, and event results will be texted to anyone who participates.
All proceeds from the event will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Long Island. According to the organization’s website, the mission of the group is to build homes for individuals who are in need, thus decreasing homelessness while also giving individuals the tools and resources they need to be successful.
The event itself will take place at Cedar Creek Field 4, located at 3340 Merrick Road in Seaside. The event is being held on June 4, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. It will take place regardless of the weather, so if it rains, attendees are encouraged to make sure they dress appropriately. Awards for best times will be announced shortly.
Tickets to the event are $35, but individuals can make additional donations and businesses can provide Corporate Gifts if they are so inclined.
