The Hofstra 26th Annual Italian Festival is an event for everyone, whether or not they have any Italian heritage.
The Hofstra University South Campus is the location for the one-day event. Italian Americans from Merrick and throughout the area can gather and celebrate the culture of Italy. Included in the event will be plenty of food, handmade arts and crafts and many cultural activities.
Hofstra University celebrates a variety of diverse cultures with events held throughout the year. The intention of the festivals is to highlight the achievements of each culture in America and to help show how each has influenced American life. The Italian day festival is one of the most popular in the series.
Numerous live performances help to portray the cultural influences brought over by Italian immigrants. Guests to the event can expect to see Italian-inspired poetry, dance, and music. Children will have plenty to do as well, as there will be a bounce house, face painting and a magic show and puppet show.

The event takes place from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on September 16th regardless of the weather. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and free to children aged 12 and under. The South Campus of Hofstra University is located at 100 Hofstra University in Hempstead.
