Festival brings filmmakers to Long Island

The 22nd annual Long Island International Film Expo is taking place for a week next month.

Moviemaker magazine has classified this at one of the Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals. It brings filmmakers together from all over the country.

The first event of the expo will be the Young Filmmakers Showcase, which will highlight the next generation. An opening night party will be held at the Filmmakers Lounge and will feature technical awards presentations. There will also be plenty of food and drink to enjoy.

There will be panel discussions on topics such as scriptwriting and marketing, as well as a round table discussion.

There will be five movie blocks each day showing several films. Some of those that will be shown this year are Isle of Capri, People Like You and Theatre of Terror. Most of the films are shorts.

The festival will finish with a closing night dinner and awards gala. Tickets are $65 for the public and $55 for participating filmmakers, which includes a buffet, or $25 for the awards gala only.

The festival will attract film buffs from all over, including nearby Merrick. Advertising for events like this is often provided by printing services companies.

The Long Island International Film Expo will be held at Bellmore Movie and the Showplace from July 12 to 18. Tickets are $25 per day or $12 for each movie block and $10 for children. Visit the official site for the latest information.
