Donations sought for LI Hebrew School and Synagogue

In desperate need of expansion, the Chabad Center for Jewish Life in Merrick is look for donations to create additional room.

The Chabad Center is run by Rabbi Shimon Kramer, who recently announced a fundraising campaign to fund an expansion at their Merrick location. The Chabad chapter serves Merrick, Wantagh and Bellmore.

Local Print shops are often instrumental in informing the public of fund-raising efforts whether it means simply getting the word out about the need for funds or promoting special fund-raising events.

According to Rabbi Kramer the Alan & Tatyana Forman Jewish Early Learning Center as well as the Gan Israel day camp and Chabad Hebrew School are at capacity. Moreover, in a recent online interview, he said that the Hebrew school has at least 100 children on its waiting list and that the construction would allow enough room to fit in 70 more students.

Rabbi Kramer explained that local investors have agreed to put up $300,000, if the synagogue is able to raise an additional $100,000 in donations. The Chabad Center website has received donations totaling $95,000.

The expansion plans include three new therapy rooms and four classrooms. The funding would also be used for scholarships to assist underprivileged children in getting an education as well as help with food security.

A federally approved non-profit organization, all donations made to the Chabad Center are tax-deductible.
