Cradle of Aviation Museum holds solar eclipse watching party

The upcoming solar eclipse will offer Long Island residents the chance to watch this historic event in a variety of settings.

One such example is the Cradle of Aviation Museum, located in Garden City (just outside of Merrick, NY), which has announced that they will be taking advantage of the event by offering a free and educational watch party.

Officials from the museum have said that the purpose of the event is more than just watching the eclipse, as they will also be seeking to help encourage young people to get more involved in STEM and other science-related activities. These include learning more about the moon and sun, creating a pinwheel projector to watch the eclipse, drawing the eclipse, and observing the historic event.

While at the event, parents and kids will also have a chance to pick up promotional materials and learn more about all the Cradle of Aviation Museum has to offer.

The museum will be open from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm on Monday, April 8, the day of the eclipse. Activities will be held from 12:00 – 4:00 pm, and the eclipse will be ongoing from 2:12 – 4:37. No pre-registration is required, and anyone who attends the museum that day can participate in these activities.

The Cradle of Aviation is located on Charles Lindbaugh Boulevard in Garden City, NY.
