What's Happening in Merrick, NY…

The Baldwin All Saints Episcopal Church plaque, has recently been returned to its rightful home, all the way from Florida.

Eric Finkelstein, a native of Merrick's neighboring town of Baldwin, found the plaque on September 5 in the Lakeland Antique Mall, hanging from the store’s ceiling. He posted a picture of the plaque on the Baldwin Inside Facebook group page, which set the ball rolling for the artifact's return.

Another Baldwin native, John Vetter offered to purchase the plague and donate it to All Saints Church. Meanwhile, Maureen Herman, a resident of Baldwin, launched a GoFundMe page on September 8, in an effort to raise money to bring the plaque to its home.

Sufficient funds were raised to both buy and ship the wooden plaque back to Baldwin. Monies raised amounted to around $463. The plaque cost $267, which Vetter paid up front and was then reimbursed for.

Banner printing services are used for a wide range of events, including both that are regularly occurring, expected one-shot deals, and even those that come up unexpectedly.

Once the plaque was back in Baldwin, Herman arranged for a celebration and ceremony for its return, and a check with the remainder of the GoFundMe page money, $221.03, was presented to the church alongside the plaque, which come with an inscription of the building’s name.
