Aspiring authors invited to library for inspiration

The library is offering its first Indie Author Day, where published writers help others to achieve success through publication.

Rejection, confusion, and frustration are common to new writers who struggle to break into the publishing industry, so Indie Author Day was created to help penmen in Merrick and other nearby areas who yearn for success but find it hard to achieve. The professional authors will act as mentors by explaining their own methods and efforts that led to the publication of their work.

The event will include panel discussions led by professional authors who help to take the mystery out of the publishing industry. The authors are expected to talk about handling rejection, creating a hook that will draw the interest of an editor, and the often unexpected expense, as well as the potential of self-publishing.

Guests to the panel discussions will have the opportunity to meet authors like Bellmore native Vincent Scialo and local writer Dina Santorelli. The advice and guidance will help aspiring novelists to learn how to create a professional appearance beyond digital Business Cards and Presentation Folders.

Included in the free event will also be writing workshops and book readings as well as many other activities. It will take place tomorrow, October 14th, beginning at 10:30 am at the Bellmore Memorial Library located at 2288 Bedford Avenue in Bellmore.
