Piano company to move location to Manhasset

The only Steinway Piano Gallery on Long Island will be moving from its current store in Melville to a more visible yet smaller location in Manhasset.

This move is part of the efforts of Steinway & Sons to become more modern and welcoming to consumers who are younger and to those who are not trained pianists.

The store in Manhasset will be on Northern Boulevard and will span 2,754 square feet. Banner printing is often used at such sites to inform residents of openings of new stores.

Steinway will be closing the Melville store next month and plans to open in Manhasset in the first quarter of 2023. Spokesperson for Steinway & Sons, Anthony Gilroy, said that there are many other high-end brands in this area and it has more visibility.

This move aligns with the efforts of Steinway to be in spaces that are more modern, with products that appeal to a wide range of customers. This initiative began in 2015 when the company launched the Spiro, a player piano of high-resolution controlled by an iPad.

Paul A. Majeski, publisher of Music Trades, provider of market research to the industry of musical instruments, said that sales of Steinway pianos soared over the past two years and Steinway is taking advantage of this new interest in pianos, changing tastes of consumers, and the success of the Spiro.
