Pumpkin Smash makes return to Manhasset

Manhasset residents with unwanted pumpkins in the wake of Halloween will have a unique disposal option thanks to an anticipated community event making a triumphant return.

The 3rd Annual Pumpkin Smash, which is being organized by the Long Island Science Museum, is set to accept pumpkins from in and around Manhasset, giving area residents another option beyond trashing their carved autumn decorations. Attendees who choose to donate their pumpkins will experience a smashing time. To participate, interested parties will need to bring their own pumpkins from home.

Potato Phoenix, a cherished local band, will provide live music. Several food and beverage vendors will also be at the event, including Barrier Brewery and Smusht. Food and drinks are not included in the cost of admission to the event. Banner printing is a proven way to promote such events to passersby while generating impressions for the event’s sponsors and host venue.

Orkestai Farm will help to compost all pumpkins at the event’s conclusion to eliminate waste. Pumpkin smashing stations will include Pumpkin Launchers and Slingshots, a Spike Smash, Pumpkin Archery, Pumpkin Bowling, and the Pumpkin Rooftop Drop. The event’s proceeds will benefit the Chris Holmes Scholarship and Conservation Fund.

The pumpkin smashing event will be held at the Long Island Science Museum in Manhasset on Sunday, November 2nd, starting at noon. Tickets are $20 per adult and $10 per child online.
