Ground has been broken on a new playground at the Port Washington Children's Center. Families in Manhasset who have young children may be interested in using this playground once it is completed.
The playground will be of value to all children and is designed to improve their motor skills with play features. Children who have different developmental needs will be able to play together at the playground thanks to its inclusive nature. Such important features are often highlighted with high-quality Flyers created by local Print shops.
The playground will be named after one of the co-founders of the center, Faustina Lees. Lees worked to create the center because she found there was a need for affordable childcare in her community of diverse people.
The work being carried out on the playground is a collaborative effort of members of the board, staff at the center, the Parent Teacher Organization, and funds privately raised by the Port Washington Children’s Center, which is a non-profit organization. The center was established in 1977 and is open throughout the year from 7:15 am to 6:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
Work on the playground is expected to be completed by the fall, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to be held at the center’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
