Being a new parent can be a tough job, and a Manhasset class will help to make it a little bit easier.
Moms and dads to be, as well as grandparents and other child care providers who attend the Baby Care Basics class, will be able to learn, or relearn, an assortment of skills they will be able to use to care for their new family addition.
Attendees will learn about everything from feeding to diapering, as well as cord care, bathing, safety, how to take an infant’s temperature, immunization and sleeping patterns. The goal is to help the participants become comfortable and confident when it comes to providing child care.
Each person who comes to the class has been asked by the organizers to bring along a doll or stuffed toy to practice their new skills with. As there are only a limited number of spaces available, people who are interested are asked to register ahead of time, and there will be a ticket price discount offered to those who are Medicaid beneficiaries or who are an employee of Northwell Health. Brochures can be prepared by an area printing company for distribution during an event like this.
November 2nd is the date for this function, which will be held in the North Shore University Hospital. More information can be found on its website.
