Upgrades to park in Henrietta proposed by town

The town of Henrietta is proposing to build a spray park at Veterans Memorial Park.

This project would include the expansion of the parking lot, a changing room building, and a splash pad.

The parking lot will add 72 spaces, while the changing room building will span 1,200 square feet with changing rooms, storage, and utility space.

The splash pad will have a diameter of 70 feet and cover 2,800 square feet of active splash and spray area. There will be up to 107 gallons per minute sprays with a non-recirculating design.

The total cost of the project is expected to be $1.07 million. Towards this amount, $250,000.00 from the Building Capital Reserve Fund of the town would need to be approved by the voters.

The remaining balance would be paid by a combination of funds from the general fund balance of the town, which would include a $200,000.00 increase in the tax levy of the town from the Building Capital Reserve Fund.

In the future, the additional revenue from taxes could be used for such projects as updates to the main entrance to Veterans Memorial Park, with a pedestrian bridge, improvements to the Senior Center, and building a Riverwalk Trail, among others.
