Shake Shack, with several locations at rest stops along the New York State Thruway, will be opening a shop in Henrietta.

It will be at the corner of Jefferson Road and Clay Road on the site of what was once a Denny’s restaurant. This has the potential to be the first location not on the Thruway anywhere in the state outside of New York City. Banner printing is often used at such sites to announce the coming of eateries to an area.

Shake Shack intends to demolish Denny’s and build a restaurant that will span 3,500 square feet. It will have both indoor and outdoor seating, takeout, and a drive-thru service. The hours will be from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm every day. The drive-thru represents a first for Shake Shack, which is most likely the result of the growing popularity of that format over the past few years.

The chain is best known for its burgers, but also included on the menu are its crinkle-cut fries, chicken sandwiches and bites, lemonade, iced tea, and milkshakes.

There are now 11 Shake Shack locations with drive-thrus, with plans to open 10 to 15 more this year.

Construction is expected to begin this spring. Randy Garutti, CEO of Shake Shack, says that once construction begins, it typically takes between 15 and 18 months to complete one of its restaurants, although adding a drive-thru takes somewhat longer to build.
