Toyota Material Handling North America (TMHNA) will be establishing an advanced energy storage solutions development, test, and prototyping center in Henrietta.
TMHNA is made up of two main companies – The Raymond Corporation and Toyota Material Handling,
TMHNA will collaborate with energy storage resources in the Rochester area to support Toyota and its own advanced energy solutions technology efforts, which will include fuel cells and lithium-ion batteries. TMHNA plans to create 40 new jobs with this new center, which is likely to mean business card printing services are needed.
Empire State Development (ESD) is helping the company through the Excelsior Jobs Tax Credit program, which will provide $1.5 million towards the project. Support is also being provided by the Greater Rochester Enterprise and the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency.
Hope Knight, CEO and Commissioner of ESD, said that ESD and the governor are focused on expanding the green economy in New York State by creating 21st-Century manufacturing, research, and development jobs. Knight added that the continued commitment of TMHNA to discovering alternative applications for the industry of lift trucks is commendable, and she expressed her thrill that the company is adding to what the area and the state have to offer.
TMHNA will be preparing the site in the immediate future and plans to be operational later this spring.
