County acquires land from Henrietta for new park

Over 70 acres of land in Henrietta have been purchased by Munroe County.

This land includes access to the Lehigh Valley Trail and will become the 23rd park in Munroe’s parks system. The land is primarily wooded, with Jeffords Road on the south, Ward Hill Road on the north, Pinnacle Road on the west, and E. Henrietta Road on the east.

Adam Bello, executive of the county, said that this acquisition will provide even more access to outdoor activities and nature for both visitors and residents. He expressed his thanks to Steve Schultz, Henrietta town supervisor, for his help in maintaining this parkland and furthering the potential of this natural resource. Local Print shops may be needed once such parks are completed to provide maps of trails and other information about available resources.

Schultz said this will be the first major new park added to the Monroe County Park system in close to 50 years. He added that the park crosses the Lehigh Valley Trail and will provide many more hiking trails and other outdoor recreational activities. He said that feedback from the community will be solicited as part of the master planning process for the land.

Once the Environmental Quality Review is completed by the town of Henrietta and subdivides the property, the town and the county will proceed with the formal signing over of the land.
