Short story writing event to take place in Albuquerque

The 2020 Short Storyathon is set to be hosted in Albuquerque next month.

Published authors Sonja Dewing and Elisabeth Loya will run this three-day event for writers. Anyone who wishes to take part in the event can register online at $115 per person.

The first day of the event will begin with advice on how to write and plan a short story, followed by a walk downtown for ideas and inspiration.

On the second day, participants will start writing their stories, take part in a discussion on hiring a professional design artist, read and critique each other’s work, finish the stories, and then send in the completed works to professional editors. Organizers of similar events often use printing services to create informative handouts.

On the last day, participants will make final edits to their stories and learn how to self-publish them on Amazon.

Anyone who chooses to donate books or funds to the nonprofit Albuquerque Reads organization will receive the opportunity to win a free cover design by professional graphic designer Alexa Verardo.

This event is scheduled to take place at the Fatpipe ABQ Coworking Space on Friday, October 2 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm; Saturday, October 3 from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm; and Sunday, October 4 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
