Old Town Albuquerque strolls into holidays
Old Town invites everyone to combine their holiday shopping with live entertainment while making memories with family and friends at its annual holiday stroll.
For some in Albuquerque, the Old Town Holiday Stroll has become a tradition and a kick-off to their holidays. Old Town’s streets are closed to traffic at 3:00 pm to ensure the area becomes a pedestrian-only site for the event. At 6:00 pm in Plaza Don Luis, the traditional Tree Lighting takes place.
Shoppers can take a break and grab a bite at any of a number of eateries throughout Historic Old Town, or for those who do not want to interrupt their holiday fun and shopping, several food establishments are offering carryout as well as delivery services.
Participating in special events like this give entrepreneurs the opportunity to garner new customers, particularly if they remember to lay in a supply of business cards.
The Holiday Stroll is a family-friendly, free event that will be taking place rain or shine; even dogs are welcome, if leashed and well behaved. While strolling between shops, attendees can enjoy a dose of holiday cheer from performing local dance groups and musicians.
It is suggested that those who come do so early and take into account that the streets in Old Town will be closed to motor vehicles beginning at 3:00 pm.
The Old Town Holiday Stroll is being held this year from 5:00 to 9:00 pm on Friday, December 3.
