Mental health first aid course to be hosted in Albuquerque
The Mental Health First Aid general course is set to occur in Albuquerque next month.
Sponsored by the City of Albuquerque, this eight-hour course is free to the public and any adult over the age of 18 is welcome to join. The course will detail how to accurately discern the signs of common mental health struggles and disorders, and provide a five-step plan on how to talk with and provide support to those who in need of it. Flyer printing provides course organizers with an easy way to hand out informational materials to all participants.
The five-step plan ALGEE includes how to assess risk, listen without judgement, how to give the right advice or reassurance, how to best encourage an individual to seek professional aid, and how to provide those in need of support with the right resources.
Individuals who wish to participate in the course can register online at no cost. Two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break will be included. Since no beverages or foods will be served at the event, participants are encouraged to bring their own drinks and lunches.
The Mental Health First Aid general course is scheduled to take place at the Los Griegos Health and Social Service Center on Friday, July 24 from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
