Blues legend celebrates half-century of music in Albuquerque

Robert Cray is coming to the KiMo Theatre in Albuquerque.

The blues musician is celebrating 50 years on his latest tour. The Robert Cray Band features Cray on guitar and vocals, Richard Cousins on bass, Dover Weinberg on keyboards and Les Falconer on drums.

Formed in 1974, the band infuses soul, rhythm and blues, gospel and rock. Over the years, The Robert Cray Band has won five Grammy Awards, earned the Americana Music Awards Lifetime Achievement for Performance and shared the stage with the likes of legends like The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Eric Clapton, John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters. The Robert Cray Band was also inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame.

The Robert Cray Band has released over 20 albums, selling millions of records worldwide.

Music concerts like these may choose to use flyer printing for low-cost promotion and brochure printing for audience programs.

Known as much for his guitar prowess as he is for his distinct vocals, Cray’s music was discovered by the likes of The Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards before his breakthrough album, Strong Persuader, was even released. In a 2023 interview, Cray recalled the surreal moment of meeting Richards in a hotel room as part of a 1987 documentary about Chuck Berry.

Robert Cray 50th Anniversary concert is coming to Albuquerque’s KiMo Theatre on 423 Central Ave. on March 4 at 7:30 p.m.
