Albuquerque to celebrate Caribbean culture with park festival

The Caribbean Celebration, organized by the New Mexico Entertainment Magazine and Big Happy Productions, s coming to Albuquerque’s Manzano Mesa Park.

Musical performances kick off this celebration of everything Caribbean, including food, clothes and more. The day is also supported by AMP Concerts and The City of Albuquerque Parks and Recreation Department.

The event is free for the public, though tickets can still be reserved online. For vendors, there are 10’ X 10’ vendor booth spaces for $75 and limited food truck spaces for $50.

This year’s Caribbean Celebration will be hosted by Robert Luke, with entertainment from Rebecca Arscott, Zile Kenep, Frank Leto and Pandemonium, Sol Calypso, Camilo Quinones, Los Domingueros, the Boomroots Collective, DJ Quico, and DJ Darly.

Food vendors for the event include That’z Good Eden, Shake it Up Lemonade, Pop-Pop’s Italian Ice, Taste of the Caribbean and City Star Cafe. Other business vendors include Ucheoly Nigerian Outfits, Tinibelle, and Same Image Different Soul.

The event is a celebration that coincides with Caribbean-American Heritage Month in June, which was officially recognized by President George W. Bush in 2006, following bipartisan support for recognizing the impact of the Caribbean people and culture on the U.S. the year before.

Cultural events like these may choose to use printing services for creating promotional materials and displays.

Caribbean Celebration is happening on Saturday, June 7 from noon to 6:00 pm at Manzano Mesa Park at 501 Elizabeth St. SE.
