Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is a go for 2021
New Mexico’s biggest event will take place this year despite the pandemic; the 2021 Balloon Fiesta is happening minus a couple of its usual components.
Over 600 balloons have registered and the only things missing from this year’s event will be the music fiesta, a country music concert usually held the second Saturday of the Fiesta and the Balloon Discovery Center, a children’s interactive event held indoors at the park’s north end.
Those perfect photo opportunity mass ascensions will still take place as usual during the nine-day event. Also, to return will be fireworks and balloon glows. Best of all no COVID-related rules or capacity restrictions this year. There will be no temperature checks and no social distancing. Unvaccinated people are urged to wear masks but no proof of vaccination will be requested.
Poster printing services are among the first promotional venues used to market annual festivals.
Guests will be able to roam the Balloon Fiesta Park grounds unhindered but organizers are implementing a new strategy that they think will innately result in people spreading out rather than bunching in one location. This will be accomplished by positioning the most popular balloons in a variety of places throughout the field.
The balloon museum is still scouring for volunteers to work the Balloon Fiesta as greeters, tour docents and museum shop workers and more.
