Albuquerque enjoys folk music
The ABQ Folk Fest returns to Albuquerque this year in a new location – Bosque School. The festival will focus on music, both performing and playing, dancing, and family-friendly fun.
One feature of this event is the open invitation to musicians. There will be multiple workshops throughout the event, helping people learn how to play one of various instruments, including penny whistle, banjo, guitar, and possibly kazoo. Beginners are welcome in these workshops, which might utilize printing services in order to have printed instructions ready to go home with the beginning musicians.
There will be open ‘jam sessions’ where anyone interested can join in the music making by singing or playing an instrument. These will be held in two locations: the hosted jams tent, and Jam with the Band. Both will be hosted and will have a variety of musical styles. Workshops will also be teaching several styles of dancing.
Activities are in place for children as well, including the Instrument Petting Zoo. This allows attendees to see and learn about a wide variety of musical instruments.
Three stages will hold different performers, for those more interested in participating. There will be food vendors at the event, as well as a variety of other vendors, no doubt with business cards to hand.
Tickets for this event are currently on sale with a variety of options, including students, seniors, family, and adult. Ticket prices are lower before the event, and will be higher if bought on the day.
This event will run from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm this Saturday, June 15.
