The blues-rock trio is embarking on the reunion tour a full decade after their most recent album, 2015’s Sound & Color, and eight whole years since their last tour. In that time, lead singer Brittany Howard has released two solo albums, including last year’s Grammy-nominated “What Now.”
Howard has herself just wrapped up a tour of her solo music, co-headlining her act around the country with soul artist Michael Kiawanuka. However, she capped off 2024 with a one-off performance with her Alabama Shakes crew in their titular state.
That performance turned out to not be a fluke because not only is Alabama Shakes touring this summer but Howard has now teased that new music from the band is also forthcoming. The Alabama Shakes frontrunner said:
“We didn’t want this to entirely be a look back”
Howard went on to say that though the 30-city tour will include the band’s biggest hits, it will “be as much about the future as the past,” with loads of new Alabama Shakes music set for release in the near future.
